FACEBOOK has announced it’s latest app to take over your phone, a news curation app called Paper.
The Paper app grabs photos, videos and news stories that your mates share in their news feeds and then shows them to you in a very attractive photo-centric layout.
There is also the option to add your own feed filled with content from news publications that Facebook has partnered with.
It has been rumoured for some time that Facebook had been developing some sort of news service, but the fact it has been released as a stand-alone app has come at a great surprise due to Facebook’s horrible failures in the stand-alone app department.

Paper shows user updates as “stories:” with captions on-top of high-res photos, auto-playing (cringe) videos, and even long or short text writing all in an attractive fullscreen format. By default all you will see is your news feed, but you can pull up news stories in different categories like “Technology” or “Headlines” to display in the one pane.
The partnered media publications are not yet known, but Facebook has said that “Each section includes a rich mix of content from emerging voices and well-known publications”.
The app will only be available on iPhone’s from February 3.
